I am looking for help with pricing products How do my prices look? too much? not enough?

I curently have
1oz chips .75
Pop tarts 1.00
All candy .75
12oz soda .75
16.9oz water .75 (the bottles i have get stuck a lot)
16.9oz soda 1.00

I am looking to put in the machine how much would you charge?
24oz soda
24oz water or 20oz water (can get them at the local stores)

I can not get soda or water directly from the soda companies because I am too small of a company(not enough volume)

are you selling ozarka, nestle, or some other type of water in the super thin easily crushed bottles? I have the same issue...

bottles for waters like Dasani are pressurized and will vend better, the only reason i stick with Ozarka is that is what the account wants...

as far as price goes on the water most folks I speak with indicate that .75 is the lowest they will go for water in a half-liter bottle and will go as high as 1.00.

Take your wholesale price and double it as much as possible. I pay roughly 0.25 for 1 oz chips so I charge 0.50. Candy bars cost me between 0.42 and 0.50. While I would like to do $1.00 I can't get away with more than 0.85 so that's what I do.

Agreed, you basically need to double your cost. Some items like water and crackers you can do much better than that so it helps to make up the margin you lose on chocolate and candy. I am at .85 or .90 for the candy and choc items as well.

Here is a tip you can do to help the water getting stuck problem if its due to them crushing. Get some peel and stick floor tiles and cut them to fit in the column, glue them in starting at the point where the column starts to neck down and go up. Two layers on each side of the column, you will reduce the capacity by 2-3 bottles but by making the column a little more narrow the bottles will stack more on top of each other and they will vend easier. I did this for several years and it greatly reduced jam problems with crushed bottles. It will also help with the problem you are experiencing with the 16.9 oz. In this case one layer on the side that does not neck down from top to bottom.

On the negative side, if you ever take out the water and want to vend something else then you will need to remove them the tiles and clean the column walls with a solvent to remove the residual glue.

Well on the candy bars go to your local supermarket and copy their prices. I see them for $0.79 at Walmart or $0.84 at my local store. Add in sales tax and it rounds to $0.85 so it is the same price you see there. Really we should be matching C store prices but it is hard to do candy at $1.00 right now because people still freak out when they see it that high.

That's my justification on the candy anyway. My 1 oz chips are actually $0.50 since my price is $0.22 but your price may vary.

Good luck.

How much is a case of 24 oz monster costing about $35 comes to about1.46 a can figure from there what you need to make. How much is it in the stores for a 16oz can? Go from there.

What kind of machine are you using we have no problem with aquafina it is the propel new bottle Posted Image that is our problemchild due to the shape of the bottle.Do you use shims and adjust the gauge bars to fit properly and have the depth adjusted to where you have about 3/4 inch of endplay. you aren't trying to vend sportcap those don't vend well.

Putz Thanks for the help

Little about my machine I have a seaga VS3800 combo machine. I have had this machine for about 3 years left everything how the company I bought the machine set it up for me never did anything with shims(I did adjust the depth for the bottle). I used to have nesle purelife water, but had a problem with the quality that almost cost my my contract.

The aquafina bottles are to soft and are getting stuck and not depressing the "sold out" button not allowing them to vend the bottles will collapse on to each other pushing out the bottles on top causing them to sit on a lip in the machine. no complaint other than that. The bottles used to be firm and did not get stuck that easy. I am buying the bottles from sam's club I did not realize it but the last few cases I bought states on it "Not For Vending" I am unable to buy from coke or pepsi direct because I do not go through enough. I was thinking of going with Ice Mountin in the 20oz bottles

Putz thanks for the help. can't find the Klarbrunn near me. I'm going to give Ice Mountin a try near the beging of the year, the bottles I found are supposed to work in the vending machines. we'll see.
