Some time back, I started vending Nong Shim Noodle Soup Bowls in my AP 6600 and GPL 159 snack machines. They sold pretty well, but once in awhile a bowl would get stuck on the way down to the delivery bay. Usually it would fall into the bay without a problem, but if the bowl falls fully extended horizontally, it gets stuck because in that position it is a little wider than the entrance to the delivery bay. Has anyone else encountered this problem? One idea I had was to tape a weight to one edge of the bowl to make it fall right, but that didn't work. Any ideas?

Hi,

I'm a newbie, I have 2 "Coca-Cola" soda machines and have "NO" machines out on a route but, I was getting on an elevator the other day and a girl bought potato chips out of the vending machine in the Lobby, it got stuck. The 1st thing she did was to bang on the machine, then pulled it towards herself, I stopped her from doing that saying that it was dangerous and you could pull the machine over on yourself (LIABILITY), she said "That's the 2nd time that machine has done that to me, I'm never using it again", so you might want to drop the product at least from a "Liability" stand point, if people buy something and don't get it, they tend NOT to go back (even if the vendor is a really "swell" guy and will gladly refund product or purchase). Just a thought, hope it helps.

I don't have it in my machines anymore. I took them out awhile ago right after someone kicked the delivery door and bent it out of shape because the bowl got stuck. It's a shame because I was selling a lot of them every week and some of my customers are still asking for it. You would think that Nong Shim would want to repackage the product so it will work on vending machines. The Maruchin cup of soups, which have a different shape, work fine (although you have to stretch the 6 count spirals a little).

Ha Ha. I dropped Lance Machine on myself once while moving it. Did that ever hurt.

Have you tried using kickers to control the way the product drops? Or, if it's a really good location, you might try another type of machine that would have more clearance between the shelves and the door.

OH, and I do have a couple of locations where I vend packs of ramin noodles. I simply supply them with disposable bowls and spoons. The high margin on the noodle packs make it worth while to buy the bowls for them.

The bowls do sell well, but not enough to justify the expense of another machine. Besides, there's enough room between the door and the shelves. It's the opening to the delivery door just above the delivery bay that is too narrow. It only gets stuck when the bowl falls exactly horizontally as it hits that spot. Has anyone tried to widen that opening on an AP 6600? That might be the solution, but I don't want to ruin the machine.

yep. those little plastic fins that go on the spirals. Depending on where you put them the product will fall in different ways. Put them at the top and product tends to tumble end over end. Put them at the bottom and product tends to drop toes first.
