Okay... So I recently took it upon myself to upgrade one of my USI 3014A snack machines, from a Maka bill validator, to a Mars 2000 series. I bought the necessary harnessing and mounting brackets, and installed everything properly. The new data harness from the 2511 validator went to the board, and the 110 volt power harness went to the power box. I powered the machine up. Everything came on, the validator powered up, the stacker cycled, then went to steady LED indicating normal operation. I inserted a bill. It took the bill, stacked it, the scrolling display stopped for a moment like it was going to do something, then went back to normal and never showed credit. I tried it repeatedly. It always took the bill, and stacked it, but would never show credit. I checked all harnessing, tried many different switch settings, and nothing changed. Currently, the validator switches are set on:

4 way acceptance.

High acceptance.

$1 acceptance, (non-flashport DBA)

Short pulse.

I tried long pulse, credit line, both pulse switches "on." Nothing changed. Any ideas? Thanks.

Check on the side of the validater where you plug harness in and make sure you didn't bend a pin. Try turning all switches to off. Is it a new, used or rebuilt validater? In the 9 pin square connector how many wires do you have coming from the machine control board?

Yes, I would try turning the switches to "off" first.

I checked for bent pins. I am using a rebuilt validator. I am assuming you mean the power harness by the square nine pin. It is a standard MEI power harness, and plugs directly into the power box, and not the board. Would it work to just use the power harness, and forget the data harness? Won't it send a pulse to the machine? I know that it works that way on the SEM CT3 Tester.

Are the dip switches set correctly? I am no expert on repairs but it sounds like your switches are not set correct. We had a problem like this not long ago on a snack machine we converted and that was the problem.

No if it only has 2 wires in the 9 pin and is coming from the power box you need the data harness. You also need the long pulse. I'm leaning towards a possible board problem on the credit line. I'm sorry but I celebrated way to much independence today and drawing a blank I will post tomorrow, checks you can do to test your credit line.

Do you mean the board on the machine or the validator? There are just two wires coming from the machine end of the power plug. The MEI harness has more then that, but they aren't all being used. The Maka that was in there before was working fine though.

So I went back to the machine, and none of the switch changes made a difference. I pulled out the validator, and put in another, that had a flashport and had been upgrade. It worked fine, and I didn't have to mess the with the settings either. So from I can tell, the old validator was not sending credit to the machine through the data line port. Any ideas on what it would take to fix that? Thanks!
