I have a CoinCo S75 that is misbehaving and I am looking at the possibility of replacing it. Can it only be replaced with the same hardware, or can I install an upgraded version of the hardware?

If it is a single price 9 pin jones plug changer, then yes, there are many other newer variations that would work.

almost all single price mechs are interchangeable the biggest deal is going to be the bill validator wire harness. i try to buy only mechs which have 3 harness types so i can switch them around to any machine otherwise it becomes a pain in the ass

The S75 did not have a validator harness as it was pre-validator. A Mars TRC6800 will work fine...make it a TRC6800H if you want to add a validator.

woah if you bought a machine without a validator good luck, you wont make any money
you might consider figuring out if you can drill one in there some how

I bought a TRC6800H to have the option of adding a validator. There is a bottle cap remover that won't see any use so I'm thinking I'll modify it to allow for a bill validator (an option I was only considering, but am now thinking will be critical after your comment dogcow).

You can add a validator where the bottle opener is but you may not have enough back clearance with the inner door. Depending on which vali you use there are options on how to resolve that issue. The problem here is the cost in upgrading far excedes the approximate value of the machine. If you have the Coinmech, Vali, Front bezel and Harness spare laying around thats ok. But full retail new will cost 650.00, Used 350.00 when you can just replace the S75 for 50.00 or repair yours. just a thought.

Ha! It's an oldie (but a goodie... I hope) I couldn't figure out how to upload a photo straight to this page so I have it off my Picasa.

Yes it does take cans (170 of them over 5 selections) It's a Dixie Narco 170/100-5 I haven't been able to find much information on them online so I'm thinking they're somewhat uncommon (or at least not frequently discussed).

Yeah that was my concern as well - it was just a nice proximity to the coin mech and there was already a hole. I picked up a TRC6800 for 60 and am talking with someone who has two dollar validators he'll sell me for 20/each. If it'll fit it should only put me back $80 & my time (and maybe some misc hardware) to get it set up with a validator. First things first, I am gonna grab some measurements from my existing one and see if it'll fit.

Concerning the placement... I'm going to really push the "vintage" and hope that's enough to make it cool. I have a dream of getting it placed at a consignment / antique shop downtown, but we'll see if that ever materializes.

And yeah, they're Mag50s so it's a hell of a deal just waiting to get my hands on them

well no offense that machine has seen better days. i dont think you would make any money in that kind of shop your best bet is maybe to paint it...i dont know.

try a lube or tire place with 10-15 guys put it on the shop floor they usually dont give a damn what it looks like as long as it cools...with that capacity i doubt you will be able to support anywhere much bigger

None taken - it's definitely been a learning experience and the further I get into this machine the more I'm realizing it's a lesson too :) We're planning to repaint it in the Pepsi blue-white-red pattern so hopefully that'll help with the cosmetics. It does at least get cold! I'll keep in mind that a low flow area would be ideal for this one to avoid constant trips to restock it.

I'm just gonna keep thinking positive thoughts about this machine and hopefully it'll rub off.

STOP!!!! Please stop spending money and chasing your tail on this type stuff. I am not trying to be mean but I hate to see people waste money and not make any in the vending business. I know you contacted me about my book and if you buy one I think it will help you greatly.

Another thing to do is to not do anything (spend money) until you spend a few months on this forum (and possibly others) and do a ton of research. Just start reading different post and dig through the information. Ask questions and read, read, read, all the info on these forums. I see so many people spend money on stuff they shouldnt and waste so much time, energy, money, etc in the begining. If they just would have done more research they would get so much more accomplished for so much cheaper.

Vending is a great way to have your own business. While it is much cheaper than a lot of businesses that you could start it still can be expensive. You need to be able to save all you can and one of the cheapest ways to do that is to do reserach because it is free other than your time. The more you save the more you can invest in making you money.

I just set up a 30k a year account Saturday with around $1000 total dollars invested in equipment. I did this because of knowledge and contacts. You can do the same thing if you do the research.

FREE ADVICE, take that drink machine to one of those "antique stores" you were talking about and sell it. Or take it to the metal scrap yard and sell it. It is NOT worth putting out to try and make money with it. It should be worth something to a collector considering Noah might have used it for a anchor.

Again please dont think I am being ugly with you because I am not. I just hate to see people do these things in vending and never really get a fair chance at making some money at it.
