Hi everyone, I work at a community swim and racket club and I have an opportunity to buy a pretty new(about 8 years old..maybe?) Coke Vending Maching in a pretty good location. Of course during winter time it won't get much traffic, but during the summer time and spring and fall it should be pretty good. It would get tennis player traffic and pool traffic. IT isn't in the pool area but near a gazebo kids like to hang out at. I would do gatorate, energy drinks and of course sodas. I can get the vending machine and the spot for 1200. I am buying it from one of the pros that teaches tennis here. I am a 18 year old kid..I have the cash in hand. I figured after about a year i could make my money back..What are you guys thinking? Do I have to pay taxes on the profit? I think it would be cool to do for a couple years.
Thanks everyone,
James

Based on the going rate for soda vending machines about that age, that deal sounds okay to me. The downside would be the winter for sure. As always when buying in vending pay as little as possible if you can. Maybe you could offer the guy $1100 or so? He would probably take it since you are paying in cash, and he's not really in vending, just doing it as a hobby. See if you can get the price down a little.

you can buy quite a bit of equipment for probably 4 working machines for $1,200 if you are patient and good at negotiating or handy, then go find accounts yourself that can get a return over a shorter period of time.

Be careful. If it is a Coke machine make sure he has a bill of sale for the machine. It may still be owned by Coke. Don't always count on a big return from a pool location. If there is no security, vandalism is higher and because of the moisture in the air electronics might need replacing. Good luck.
