I have one location that recently got ants. This part of Ky has a lot of ants. All I have at this point is the tri head machines with candies and gums. Well I pulled the machine temp. to dump the candy and clean the machine. Is there anything I can do to prevent bugs and ants from tracking down my product and contaminating it. Luckily the business knows me and isn't blaming me yet but I don't want this to become a problem for them. Please help asap before I take the machine back tomarrom.

Ahhh, Its that time of year again! This is a simple fix Track. Simply smear a liberal amount of petroleum jelly around the top of the pole where the stand meets your machine. Those pesky critters won't cross the Vaseline and those who try will never make it. I have a jar in my service bag and make sure I apply it this time of year. Also make sure the machine itself is not in contact with anything around it, like a wall or curtian, or the ants will find that bridge.

You can also use a strong double sided tape as well. This will trap the ants before they can get across.

Thanks a bunch this sounds safer than my fix of wiping the pole down with bug spray. This won't put off that awful smell either nor possibly contaminate the food product. Sometimes the simplest solution is the best. Thanks a bunch.

Anyone have a website for them? I tried vendesign.com but it directs me to a logon page.

Great idea for the double tape, down here in Florida the jelly smears everywhere.

Yeah I can see where that might be an issue. I think I prefer the tape as well much cleaner.

I noticed on some of my machines, the vasoline has dripped down the post. The post are black and were placed in front of a window guessing it was to warm.
Think I will go with the double sided tape for the bugs. That location did move the machine away from the window. Its nice when they actually move your machine in your favor without asking.
It is in a auto repair place with limited space. They wedged it next to the pop machine.

You guys are telling me that double sided tape will keep the bugs out? Do they have clear double sided tape that I could just put around the pole that connects to the head of the machine?

I don't know but I think some bugs may make it past the tape, haha. I haven't tried the jelly yet but I'm in South Florida and I'm pretty sure it would be a mess. Stuff gets hot and gets every where down here.

Rob,

The tape I use is 3 inch wide clear double sided that is primarily used in the construction biz. You can find it at a home supply store. This stuff is so sticky that even your palmetto bugs will get stuck, never mind ants!
