I have a Dixie Narco 501E machine that I just picked up and am fixing. It was missing the control board and double column motor n the right side. The labels called for a red/grey motor which I installed and it still reads JC-10 error which I take to mean a jam in column 10. Am I looking at this correctly that DN numbers the columns from left to right rather than right to left like Vendo? Everything seems to turn fine by hand when I unplug it and the switch lever falls in the cam notch. Is it a bad switch somewhere or something?

DN501E are numbered right to left like the vendo. It is thinking that there is a 10th column. Either the board is the wrong board, or is a a universal board that can be installed in different machine configs (You have to change the model number in program at power up) . The newer HVV-12 models control boards can be installed in multiple machines, and at start up have to be told what model they are in. Never had to do this on a 501E, and has been awhile since doing it on a HVV so I hesitate telling you the wrong thing. Here is the sight for the manuals -http://www.dixie-nar.../75/Default.cfm . This sounds like a space to sell issue, where column 10 has been assigned but not there. The boards for this machine can operate up to 10 motors. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. It's an S2DE board, it originally had an S2D. There are in fact 10 columns but maybe I need to confirm there is in fact no jamb on the far left column not the Far right column. There were a couple of buckets in the middle out of synch showing column jams that cleared once I rotated them.

Steve, by no stretch of the imagination am I an expert on Dixie models, but are you sure your machine is a 501E. In my 22 years in the biz, Coke and Pepsi have supplied all of our units and all of the 501E units we have, have been 9 columns. It maybe that this style is the ones coke and pepsi use, but Dixie may also sell a 10 column 501E, but I have never seen one. Now that I think about it ours are "501E-9". I guess that there maybe a "501E-10" Either way if your is a 10 column, I have been thinking about this and I remember we had one doing just this thing and I found a broken wire in the harness. It was located near the bottom hinge. There are harness connections near the bottom hinge that contain connections for motors, switches ect... If one of the wires for the cam switches is broken or popped out of the molex connector then this could cause your problem. Hope this helps.
