I had a chance to get in with a school today. They wanted a snack machine in there faculty breakroom. They already have a soda machine that is provided by coke. The snack machine would have been ONLY available to faculty. There is 45 employees. Should I have taken it? Whats your experience with qualifying schools?
Personally, I probably would have taken a pass. Unless I felt that it could lead to more business. Sounds like Coke may have an agreement with the school system, or is this a private school? If it's a dead end and won't lead to more schools, then you did the right thing in my opinion. Just one machine isn't hardly worth it unless you're in a blue-collar location. You might take it if the school is really close to where you have a good account already set up and you will be in the area anyway.

Coke does have it with them. Its public school. I didn't take it because it was a little out of my way so I do agree with you there. Thanks BVI Just wanted to make sure I made the right choice.Personally, I probably would have taken a pass. Unless I felt that it could lead to more business. I was at my kids school yesterday when I noticed 2 soda machines (pepsi and coke) in the faculty lounge. One was set at .50 and the other .55. Even if I were to ask I could not sell at those prices. I also have to consider that they are only there 9 months out of the year. Did not see much profit to pursue an account at the school.

I do alot of schools and they do well. They will empty out the snack machines in the teachers lounge every week. The only thing taht is bad is that they arnt there all year round. They make more then some other snacks taht I have all year though. I use to have a school that had 11 snack machines and till recently we had to pick them all up but the teachers lunge. It use to run $1000 a day between all the machines and has been the reason we have grown as much as we did the past 5 years. The new rules they have make it hard for anyone to do buisness in schools. In our area coke paid 23 million for all the schools and right after taht they turned around and made them only able to sell water, but the kids can buy all snacks, cokes, juices, milks, ect from the cafeteria. They also will expect a big commision. I paid 20% to that one school but it was worth it because the prices were very high considering my other accounts. I will jiss that account

Yes I probably would have if I had the machine available or if I had an account under performing that I could pick one up at. I wouldnt give them a new machine though sicne you cant secure the coke buisness.

THANKS KEVIN,, I THOUGHT THAT SINCE I DIDN'T HAVE A MACHINE AVAILABLE AND ALSO A LOCATION EVEN CLOSE BY IT AND BECAUSE IT WAS ONLY SNACK THAT I WOULDN'T TAKE IT.

I just got into the business part-time a couple of months ago which included one high school. The two snacks located where the students can access them do well (even though they have to be shut down during lunch hours). The snack in the teacher's lounge doesn't do well, probably not worth having there if it weren't for the other two where the students are. Somebody else has the pop in the teacher's lounge, so I can't comment about that one. I think you would have to have had more information about the potential of that particular lounge to see if it would have been worth it.
